Birthday...

So, how do you treat out your roommate for his birthday? Especially one that, for your birthday, rolls you a cigarette that you'll never use and smokes it for you?

Why, you take him to the best time of his life! The Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival! WOO!

And Now For Something Completely Different...

Watched Monty Python's Flying Circus for the first time last night. There were some really cool sketches in it. Not a fan of the animated bits using cutouts of old paintings, but at least the entire show didn't deal with that.

Last night was baaaaad. There's no class today or tomorrow, so Alan, our friend Shubes, Sam, and I hung out. We wandered north of town with water bottles full of really bad tasting liquids. Shubes was getting obnoxious, and I was halfway to his spot, and one of the water bottles didn't close and ended up getting emptied into Sam's purse, which we all felt bad about.

The worst part is that Sam said she wanted to hang out, but then just kinda ignored me. Didn't feel too good about that. She ended up bailing on us with a "Oh, I'm going to my room quick," but then never came back.

Kinda a good move on her part, since the rest of us ran into cops. Shubes and I quickly retreated into his room while they were walking down the hall, which was the shadiest thing ever, since he didn't notice them, put a cigarette in his mouth inside while trying to get into his room, failed at putting a key in the slot, and dropped his stuff. I just told him to hurry it up, pulled the cigarette out of his mouth, picked up his stuff, and just darted in. Alan got confronted by them, since he was trailing behind a bit, but nothing happened, so that's good.

But since nothing bad truly happened and it was mostly just bad circumstances...GOOD NIGHT!

(oh, and I chugged a full coke for no reason...apparently, I thought that'd help...)

Fun with History...

I love my discussion lab for my History class. It's a small group from our huge lecture hall, to talk on a more personal level about the material in class. My friend Alan and I always get a kick out of it because we know what's going on, and we just make jokes that make us look dumb, like when we side with hardcore Warhawks, Big Business, or McCarthyists.

Today in class:

Teacher: "...now, Carter was our president during the Iranian Hostage Crisis. We had 53 hostages at the U.S. Embassy, taken over by a few hundred Iranian students. If you guys were Carter, what would you do first?"

Me: "GROW PEANUTS!"

Alan: *raises hand* I'd have a big, sweet Black Hawk helicopter full of Special Forces agents land it on top of the building and raid the Embassy! It'd be so awesome!

Tailgating...

During the regular football season, I never got to go tailgating. Usually, I'd either be working the 'Drunk Rush' before the big game, or I'd be way too exhausted from a long-ass day to even care.

Yesterday, our football team had a Spring Scrimmage, which seems like an excuse for everyone to go to the big parking lot and get shwasted right before finals start up. I ended up working until 1:30, but since tailgating was starting around 4, I perked up and went down there to see what I was missing out on.

I got out of it what I expected to get out of it, no more, no less, but it was still a good time. I'm not a huge fan of huge, drunken mobs, and walking with loud drinkers when cops are walking rounds right next to us is kinda shady, and having one of our guys being way too drunk for his own good, but most of these factors are outweighed when I met two of my superiors, both who were really cool people to begin with, and they passed out beverages for us to share from their magical backpack of goodies.

...I can't believe I'm slowly adapting to this scene. It's kinda bad. Like kissing-Mike-whilst- in-a-drunken-stupor-totally catching-him-off-guard bad.

>_>

Uh oh...

So I was with Sam today, but she was with another guy.

And she was all over him. And happy.

And I felt something I rarely feel: awkwardness.

And the entire time I was around them, I just wanted to leave.

...I'm not a fan.

The Anti-Image...

I like my lack of style. I really do. A bit out of place at locations like the coffee shop above Skeletones, but no worries.

I am who I am and I don't dress to impress or fit in. Fashion shouldn't be a lifestyle.

Back Home...

The last time before I'm done with school.

This year's been pretty awesome, really. I wasn't too afraid I wouldn't meet new people or that people suck, but some people ran into that problem, and I do feel sorry for them. Really, though, college has been the best thing in my life since Jesus died for all that sinning I've been doing the last 6 months.

Seriously, I have become a different person since college. A few bad, borderline regrettable things, but overall, I like the new Me. It beats being the pushover I felt I was back in high school (although, a cute girl can still manage to get me to buy her a bagel with a please and batting of eyelashes, but we'll let those instances slide...). I like being opinionated and doing what I'd like to do, rather than overcomplicating matters with 'Right and Wrong'.

In actuality, I miss the old Me sometimes. I miss how high moral value dictated my actions at times. I'm still kinda the good kid in college, too, but that's only relative to Mike Lindsay. Not to say I've become a bastard who's life is run by Sex, Drugs, and Rock n' Roll. I'm just a bastard who's life has been INTRODUCED to Sex, Drugs, and Crappy Indie Music.

Really, I still have that strong moral compass that's usually more of an annoyance to others rather than me...it just gets tucked away every now and again.

Another Poetry Hater...

Chris
Who is quite quizzical
Who loves to have every detail accounted for
Who feels he's a cynical optimist
Who needs comfort every now and again
Who gives blood, but is not exactly sure why
Who fears people don't truly care
Who would like to see what will become of himself
Who shares his time to lend a hand
Who is the coolest mathematician you'll ever know

The Weekend...

This was the first weekend I've had since December that I haven't had to worry about work or anything like that. Really, it's been awesome. I never knew that there was so much that could happen within 24 hours and that a day without objectives and multiple things to due can last quite a while.

TJ and Kayla coming up here was great. They got here much earlier than I anticipated, but it was still funny when I ran out of Liz's apartment in her ballet flats to wave down TJ from the road. Mike and Alan got back from their game in Detroit about an hour after TJ got here, so everything worked out alright.

In the end, everyone liked TJ. It was general consensus that he's cool for someone who says bastardly things. As my soon-to-be roommate, Shubes, said in his drunken state, "TJ's a bit of a dick, but he's a cool dick. So pretty much he's only a douchebag."

Saturday I was deeeaaaad...I was unable to sit up from the ground until 2:30pm. It suuuucked. I've never gotten that bad, and I don't plan on going back to it anytime soon. It killed.

I'm still feeling a bit sick, but I think I caught something.

Today, Sam and I hung out for the first time in a while. We ended up sitting in the sun and doing HW. Good times. After that, Mike, Alan, Shubes, and I grilled hotdogs for people outside. We ended up not having a pair of tongs, so I went out and got some...from McD's. It was actually pretty funny going in and asking the manager if he'd lend me one.

All-in-all, the weekend has been good to me. Sick and single - not really how I saw it ending - but it was still pretty groovy!

Note to Self...

Don't drink that much again.

Not being able to remember names, loss of focus, and feeling like hell the next day =/= Good.

Still had fun, though...
